Taipei, June 22 (CNA) Taiwan's Pan Cheng-tsung (潘政琮) on Sunday fell well short of defending his title at the RBC Heritage golf tournament in South Carolina, finishing tied for 52nd at 9-under-par 275, 13 shots behind winner Webb Simpson of the United States.

Pan entered the final round eight shots behind four players, including Simpson, who were tied for the lead at 15-under-par, but he seemed to be making a run after birdieing three straight holes on the front nine.

A bogey on the par-4 ninth and a double bogey on the par-3 14th, however, dashed any hopes Pan might have had of a higher finish, and he finished the day with a 2-under 69.

Simpson won the tournament at 22-under, with Mexican Abraham Ancer finishing second at 21-under and American Daniel Berger and Tyrrell Hatton of England ending tied for third at 20-under.    [FULL  STORY]
